Gang Starr’s Guru passes away at 43

Guru, 43, was in the news last month for falling into a coma after undergoing surgery after a heart attack, but this news came as a shock to fans all over the planet. “The world has lost one of the best MCs and hip-hop icons of all-time — my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru,” Guru’s producer and current musical collaborator Solar said in a statement. “Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! This is a matter that Guru wanted private until he could beat it, but tragically, this did not happen. The cancer took him. Now the world has lost a great man and a true genius

Jay-Z Drop DOA

Jay-ZBut Friday night, New York radio station Hot 97 had the honor of offering proof when it premiered Jay's new song "D.O.A." or "The Death of Auto-Tune."

"This is anti-Auto-Tune, death of the ringtone," Jay begins, rapping over a track co-produced by Kanye West and No I.D. with jazz horns wailing in the background.

"My raps don't have melodies," he continues. "This ain't a No. 1 record, this is practically assault with a deadly weapon."

Later Friday night, the man himself called into Hot 97 to explain his lyrical assault on Auto-Tune.

"The guys who did it, did it great," he said, going on to list T-Pain, Kanye West, and Lil Wayne as examples before suggesting that perhaps they too should steer clear of the voice-enhancement technology. "Let's move on," he said. "That's just my opinion. I don't know if everybody feels the same way."

He may divide popular opinion, but there is sure to be a couple of Coldplay fans the rapper can count on to back up their "Uncle Jay" .

Are 30's the new 20's

Perhaps 30’s are the new 20’s? There’s a lot of evidence to support this claim. The fact that the average life-span is 65+ might have something to do with it. People are living much longer due to the advancement of modern medicine and healthy living. With these factors in place, it’s only natural that the social and economic climate follows. There’s no better example of this than Alanna and Karmen; their good-natured personality and fun loving attitudes toward life helps to support these factors. Good livin’ and a stress free approach to life are also key factors to looking younger and aging gracefully. If you’re at peace with your inner-self, then the rest will follow. Just ask them, they will tell you “everything-is-everything” which translates to no-worries, God has it.
