Where do I start? There is much to be said about this movie. The story is essentially about the chaotic world-wide effort to prepare for the coming of the end of the world as we all know it. As the world’s leaders and scientists scramble to find answers, time is running short. The catastrophe crosses all cultures, religions, nations, and governments and indeed requires a unified effort. Can common ground be found.

A lot of companies are talking about "going green" these days, but here's one that's actually doing it. Boxed Water Is Better ($TBD) discovered that it was actually kinder to the environment to box rather than bottle the water. Turning to the century old milk-style beverage container for inspiration, 90% of the boxes are made from renewable resources, shipped flat, and filled on-demand with great tasting water. And you can feel even better knowing that 20% of Boxed's profits are spent on planting new trees and creating new forests. Plus, the black-text on white-background boxes will look cool in your fridge, like something out of the Dharma Project.

In this historical election year, few women campaigned harder than Senator Hillary Clinton and, ummm…Dollicia Bryan. While Ms. Bryan didn’t face an opponent as colossal as Hill’s, her anointment was earned less through opposition and more through achievement (Lil Wayne’s “Got Money” and Kanye’s “Love Lockdown” videos, the movie Dough Boys, starring Reagan Gomez and Wood Harris, the cover of King, etc.). Now that the crowning is complete, let’s sit back and watch this doll-faced politician blow her own curvaceous horn. Speech!

President Obama himself came up with the concept of the first ever Neighborhood Inaugural Ball which took place on January 20th in Washington DC. The Neighborhood Inaugural Ball was for those of us in main stream America. It’s for the neighborhood here in Washington, D.C. and also the neighborhoods across the country. It’s for those of us who stood in the long lines and rain to make our voices heard. So it’s only fitting that the opening song of the 2009 Neighborhood Inaugural Ball was entitled “At Last”.
For the younger generations, this song was made famous by Etta James in 1961 and has gained historical significance over the years. When Beyonce picked this song for the President and First Lady’s first dance of the night, it was no coincidence. One can’t help but wonder if the symbolic meaning behind the song is “At Last our struggle to get an African American in the White House is fulfilled”. Or perhaps “the Country has taken a step towards unbiased racial equality and forward thinking”. When asked about the song Beyonce said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight:
"To sing 'At Last' while they have their first dance is a dream come true. I could not be more honored and excited that they have asked me to be part of this moment in history."
In addition to great entertainment, the organizer of the ball used technology like text messaging, webcasting, and video conferencing to share this momentous occasion with all Americans. Through enabling technology such as this the organizers were able to link together attendees at other neighborhood balls all across the country.
